That’s Alter Albion. That’s exactly why we exist. Our owner/founder, Roxy Celebrant, has been working in wedding industry since 2011. She has seen the change over the years.
‘Pre-Covid, it wasn’t uncommon to have an average of 100+ guests at a wedding,’ explains Roxy. ‘Since then, year on year, couples are reducing their guest list. They are also rethinking what their wedding actually means and looks like to them.’
And that stats back this up. According to Easy Weddings Industry Report, weddings with 11–30 guests increased by 12% year-on-year in the 2025 report. This proves that intimate weddings are no longer just a pandemic phenomenon – they’ve become a mainstream choice.
Why micro-weddings?
There are many reasons for the rise in micro-weddings.
Covid gave couples a reset on what a wedding looks like. With many marrying when restrictions were in place, couples starting realising that a smaller, more intentional moment, can feel just as incredible as a bells and whistles wedding.
Another reason is cost-of-living. Even couples who haven’t been adversely affected by this are finding it hard to justify the extravagance of a large wedding, and would rather spend this money on housing, holidays, renovations, or savings.

We keep costs down by having Alter Albion already styled, meaning that we can deliver more than one ceremony a day.
We work similarly to a registry office or courthouse. We provide everything you need, including celebrant, paperwork, chairs, signing table, a 15 to 20 minute ceremony. We also are co-located with bars and a restaurant, so you have plenty of options from casual drinks through to a full reception, without having to leave our home at Craft’d Grounds.
